Some glamour is worth suffering for.

The grind for a relic weapon in FFXIV can be heavy depending on the weapon, but it's worth it in the end: relic weapons have some of the best looks in the game.

Unless you're a Picto. No relics for you! You'll have to wait until the DT relic cycle begins. Just go paint yourself one for now and cry in the corner.

Manderville Weapons

The most recent relic weapons are the Manderville weapons from Endwalker. Their final form are the Mandervillious Weapons, which are very distinct with their hyperfuturistic aesthetic. They're somewhat divisive as far as glamour goes, but do pair well with some of the Allagan PVP gear, Stormblood raid gear, and the new Vanguard glamour sets.

The Mandervillious weapons also look right at home in Solution Nine, but you will have outleveled them by the time you get to that zone.

Mandervillious Index

Out of all the Mandervillious caster weapons, Summoner's weapon suits their job the best, given the job's long history of plumbing the depth of retro-futuristic forbidden Allagan knowldege.

Mandervillious Rapier

This is very different from Red Mage's canonical dashing duelist look, but RDM fans looking to break away from the frilly accoutrements and the color red (how dare you!) might find this glamour appealing.

Mandervillious Rod

Embrace your inner cybergoth! The futuristic design looks good on the rod base. The simple underlying structure lets the color and pattern shifts pop out.

Top picks by job

There are plenty more relic weapons than just the Endwalker ones. ARR, Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers all featured their own relics, but jobs introduced later did not get weapons from previous expansions added.

Red Mage

Red Mage was introduced in Stormblood, so it doesn't have ARR or Heavensward relics. Thankfully the Stormblood and Shadowbringers relics have some nice options.

Talekeeper Recollection

This elegant Resistance weapon has a fairy tale feel. Perfect for a dapper Red Mage. It is an intermediary step in the Resistance Weapon Relic, which is tied to the Bozja instanced area introduced in Shadowbringers endgame.

Bozja is still active on NA servers, especially on weekends and between major patch releases when people go back to older content.

Murgelis Anemos

Another weapon tied to endgame instanced content, Murgelis Anemos is the first upgrade to RDM's base Stormblood relic, and the version I prefer. Murgelis on its own is a beautiful weapon. The Anemos upgrade adds a glow that slowly shifts between red and pink tones. The glow is a nice contrast to the gothy design of the base weapon.

You'll need to unlock and advance a little ways through Stormblood's Eureka to access this weapon. Like Bozja, Eureka is still pretty active at certain times.

Summoner

Summoner's relic design peaked in Heavensward, and nothing has come close since, in my opinion. For that reason, I've only included the one relic here.

Mimesis Lux

Tough to beat giant Bahamut wings on a spellbook.

Mimesis Lux is a Heavensward relic. It's mostly a big Poetics sink to get one. If you prepurchase the materials over time, you can finish a Heavensward relic in less than a day.

Black Mage

Kaladanda Lux and the legacy ARR Stardust Rod are tied for my favorite Black Mage relic weapons. Kaladanda Lux is another Heavensward relic like Mimesis Lux, so the time investment is fairly low.

Kaladanda Lux

Big glowy fireball.

Stardust Rod

The ARR relic grind is no joke, with multiple of its many stages requiring repetitive activites. Because of that, I only completed two in total: this Stardust Rod and Dragoon's Gae Bolg, another iconic relic.

Further, unlike other relic weapons, intermediate stage glamours for ARR relics only become available when you complete the entire weapon upgrade chain. That said, you could always just carry an unfinished one around and manually glamour it, but that feels wrong to me somehow.

Take your pick of glows but I like the simple one the best.

Best starter relic

The easiest relic to get quickly is a Maderville weapon and it only requires tomestones to do all of its upgrades. If the techno aesthetic isn't your thing, the next easiest would be one of the Heavensward relics.

Whichever way you choose to go, your reward at the end will be a fantastic glamour. Which caster relic is your favorite? Any speculation on what the relic theme will be for Dawntrail? Drop it in the comments!
